M 18 "cut-out" Wehrmacht Heer single decal steel helmet. Visible batch number contain only 3 last digits and letters: ***42N, which is for a batch number R 1842 N. This is a nice, circa 1942 year re-issued helmet, with pigskin leather. Helmet itself has markings ET 64 and number 62 left to it. It seems that "62" was a war time re-marking for a steel M 31 liner. However the current liner is in size 64 and it sits very tight to the shell. The only one known maker who had a contract to produce these helmets was "ET" - Eisenhutten Werke at Thale. Original M18 "cut-out" helmet must bear the maker mark ET 64. They made these helmets only in shell size 64 and about 70,000-100,000 pcs. were made. Very nice combat worn piece in Schiffergrau rough paint. The salty leather liner with original and unopened postwar drawstring. The salty pigskin made chinstrap has maker's mark Lüttringhaus & Co Köln Mühlheim 1940. Very good condition rare steel helmet
