As per Wehrmacht regulation, most of cavalry regiments has been transformed to the fast troops “Schnelle Truppen”, which means the armored or motorized tank, bicycle and reconnaissance units. The 6th Cavalry regiment was transformed in August 1939 - November 1940 to the new units: Aufklärungs-Abteilung 33,34,36, 79. The 33 Abt fought in Africa. 36 Abteilung fully destroyed in 1944 at the eastern front in Bobruysk area in Belarussia. The hat is a mid war combat exampe, (not a crusher Alter Art, but a combat ) made of the enlisted type wool which was usually used on the M42 and M43 tunics. Marked size 56 ½, the sweat diamond is removed. The grey Presstoff paper sweatband is cracked and damaged due of wear. The Schwedter Adler is attached with a rough thread which is faded. Completed with zinc eagle and aluminum wreath. All insignia is period applied to the hat. The hat has never been in collections before. Very good combat worn condition hat and it will looks great in any combatant display of Africa or Eastern front.
