Early Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Othello Solingen

Early pattern Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser produced by Othello Solingen with the characteristic “Negro head” trademark logo. The knife shows normal traces of use typical for these pieces, as such knives were actively used by Hitlerjugend youth members.
The rear section of the grip displays impact marks most likely caused by throwing the knife into wood. However, most surviving examples are encountered in far worse condition, often with sharpened blades and edge damage. In this case the blade remains in excellent condition without sharpening marks or edge nicks.
The bakelite grip plates remain fully intact. The Hitlerjugend enamel diamond mounted in the grip shows no enamel chips. Only natural wear to the nickel plating is present.
The upper leather belt loop on the scabbard has a longitudinal crack. The knife is additionally fitted with an interesting decorative portepee knot.
