Gold Close Combat Clasp Nahkampfspange in Gold manufactured by F. & BL – Funcke & Brüninghaus, Lüdenscheid. Among collectors, this variant is classified as 3.1 according to Thomas Durante's reference The German Close Combat Clasp in World War II. The clasp retains approximately 70% of its original gilt finish and is protected by its original Brennlack coating. In a few areas the Brennlack has lightly worn away, while a natural physicochemical diffusion process has caused part of the gilt layer to migrate into the zinc base, revealing the underlying matte zinc surface. This is a characteristic ageing phenomenon found on original zinc awards from the Second World War and represents a natural change in the material over time. Virtually no signs of use. Excellent condition.
