Original U-Boot-Kriegsabzeichen by Funcke & Brüninghaus, Lüdenscheid. The badge was instituted on 13 October 1939 and awarded to Kriegsmarine submarine crews after completing the required number of operational patrols or for distinguished service during combat operations.
Manufactured in zinc, this example shows pronounced period wear. The gilt finish is partially worn, exposing the underlying zinc base in several areas.
