The grip is made of zinc with chrome plating; minor bubbling of the chrome is visible on the spine of the handle. The bakelite grip plates are intact and free from cracks. The Hitlerjugend diamond retains its enamel, with two small edge chips, while the remaining enamel shows no cracking. The scabbard is blued and displays an even patina. The leather belt hanger has two small holes resulting from wall display by a previous collector. In most cases, Hitlerjugend knives show heavier damage due to youthful misuse, including throwing and improvised use, making the present condition characteristic of an authentic, period-used example.
