Steinhauer & Lück German Horse Driver's Badge in Gold

Product Code: o427/20
Price: 490.00€

Description

Original Deutsches Fahrerabzeichen in Gold manufactured by Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid. The badge was instituted in May 1930 by the Reich Association for the Breeding and Testing of German Warmblood Horses (Reichsverband für Zucht und Prüfung deutschen Warmbluts) and was awarded in three classes. The Gold Grade was the highest class and could only be earned after qualification in the lower grades. Fewer than 17,500 badges of all classes were awarded between 1931 and 1942, making them highly desirable among collectors.

Over time, the gilt finish has largely diffused into the zinc base due to the natural physico-chemical properties of zinc, although it remains clearly visible. The reverse bears the markings GES. GESCH. (Gesetzlich geschützt), Reichsverband für Zucht und Prüfung deutschen Warmbluts, and the maker's mark Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid. Good collector condition.
