This variant has been encountered by us for the first time. Luftwaffe shirts are inherently rare items, and in most cases they were produced from Blaumeliert fabric, a grey-blue melange cotton. The presented example is made from standard wartime grey cotton, while the breast eagle is produced from Blaumeliert material, clearly distinguishable by its tone and texture from the main body of the shirt. Original shirts of this configuration have not been encountered by us previously and are not documented in collections, on the market, or in open sources. The market contains numerous reproductions made from materials that do not correspond to the manufacturing standards of the German textile industry of the period. The shirt is fitted with brown bone buttons. Condition is ideal, with only minimal signs of wear, suggesting very limited use. If required, a matching pair of shoulder straps made from Blaumeliert material, corresponding to the breast eagle, can be offered. All insignia and buttons are sewn in period.
