STRIKING THE ENEMY TANKS

A "six-plane formation" dives, flying on a combat course and disappearing into the air ravine.

There’s the target – enemy tanks moving towards the river.

Flagstaff Zadorozhny dropped deadly “crow’s feet” in kilograms on the enemy. Bombs from other aircraft fell precisely on them. Anti-aircraft fire flared up above. Smoke clouds covered the ground.

Shocked by the sudden strike, the fascists panicked and opened fire. However, the new maneuvering formations of Gromov, Rebrikov, and others prevented them from delivering accurate fire. Only concentrated artillery shells, whistling, exploded, trying to reach the bombers.

Gunners-radio operators Vashchenko and Logvinov were wounded. But they bravely continued to direct the fire. The mission was accomplished, but the planes returned under difficult conditions.

The shooters engaged – there were eight Messerschmitts. A fierce battle began. Kovalev’s brave foursome quickly destroyed one. The second shooter group eliminated the third black raider. The rest hastily retreated, abandoning their downed comrades. Their attack was thwarted.

Our bombers, having completed the mission, successfully returned to their airfield zone.

Gunner-Radio Operator Pleshkov

IN THE NAME OF THE GREAT LEADER

The appointment of the beloved leader of the people, Comrade Stalin, as Chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR had enormous political significance.

Workers, collective farmers, and the intelligentsia, commanders, and soldiers of the Red Army redoubled their efforts to work and fight for their Motherland.

The cities, having learned of the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, knew:

"The enemy will not pass! He will be defeated. Victory is ours!"

Comrade Stalin is the symbol of national civic valor and the military might of the Red Army and has the right to lead the war to a victorious end.
