CONTEMPT FOR DEATH – THE KEY TO VICTORY!

I Shot with Even Greater Hatred

When our crew's navigator, Lieutenant Kotov, dropped the bombs, I clearly saw how the fascist tanks below were torn apart by the precise hit.

The mission was complete. We began to retreat. The previously weak anti-aircraft fire intensified.

Three "Messerschmitts" emerged from the side.

Senior Sergeant Kuzin and I opened fire on the vultures, preventing them from approaching our aircraft.

A stray bullet wounded me in battle.

But I did not let go of the machine gun and continued showering the "Messerschmitt" with bullets.

Kuzin avenged my wound.

With a precise burst of fire, he struck one of the enemy fighters so hard that it instantly tumbled and, with its tail down, plummeted into oblivion.

The remaining two withdrew.

As we entered the clouds, we encountered enemy fighters again.

They noticed us, closed in, and began their attacks.

Kuzin and I, despite our injuries, fought back every attempt until we drove them away.

In the final minutes of the battle, I was wounded again—this time, shrapnel hit my arm.

But I continued shooting with even greater hatred and fury.

The danger passed.

Now I have recovered. I am glad that once again, alongside my comrades, I will strike down the fascist beasts without sparing my strength or life.

N. Zilbershtein.

Technician Bessonov Honestly Fulfills His Duty

In wartime conditions, when every minute counts and aircraft must be ready for combat, the work on the ground is of utmost importance.

Technical crews play a vital role.

Bessonov is a highly skilled aviation engine specialist.

Preparing an aircraft quickly and ensuring the crew can carry out their mission—this is what Bessonov does best.

Bessonov never hesitates when asked about the condition of the equipment.

He considers it a disgrace if a commander finds even the slightest fault in a plane under his care.

That is why the aircraft maintained by Bessonov go into battle with pilots fully confident in their reliability.

His work reflects countless sleepless nights and relentless effort.

Bessonov knows how to repair, dismantle, and assemble an engine.

When a plane lands with engine trouble, Bessonov immediately removes his jacket and gets to work without waiting for orders.

Two hours later, the engine is running smoothly again.

As part of his team, Bessonov exemplifies the finest qualities of a Soviet worker: honesty, endurance, diligence, and perseverance.

Fearlessness in Battle – A True Key to Success

Comrade Khorev demonstrates outstanding courage and combat discipline at all times, faithfully carrying out his assignments in the fight against the German invaders.

In any weather, on every combat mission, Khorev takes off—and he never returns without a victory.

His high standards for himself, his relentless self-improvement, and his fearless determination push him to ever greater success.

The Stalinist falcons of Nemchenko perform combat sorties relentlessly.

— This is only the beginning, — Comrade Khorev said, — there will be even more victories until the Hitlerite scum are wiped from existence.

The Example of Komsomol Member Ermilov

Komsomol member Ermilov dedicates all his strength and knowledge to ensuring aircraft are fully and promptly armed.

To achieve this, he meticulously prepares machine guns, readies bombs and shells, and arranges everything so that they can be quickly attached to the planes.

His precise organization, persistence, endurance, and iron will drive his success.

Recently, a plane received an urgent combat mission requiring immediate departure.

The armament team, led by Ermilov, worked efficiently and swiftly.

Within mere hours, the bombs were mounted.

The plane took off on course.

A few hours later, it returned from the mission.

The bombs mounted by Ermilov had rained down upon the frenzied fascists.

To the Defense Fund of the Country

At a meeting of workers from the bathhouse-laundry complex, it was decided to contribute to the Defense Fund of the Motherland.

The workers pledged to donate two hours of their daily earnings to the military treasury.

After discussing the initiative, the soldiers of the unit decided to contribute their entire monthly salary to the Defense Fund.

Liquid Aviation Instruments

In addition to chemical aviation bombs, the enemy may also use special devices for dispersing chemical agents.

A single plane can carry devices capable of releasing tens or even hundreds of liters.

Upon activation, liquid chemical agents (such as mustard gas, lewisite, and others) are released and dispersed, falling as rain in droplets of varying sizes or as mist.

At the moment of release, dark streaks appear behind the aircraft, but they dissipate quickly.

After dispersion, dark, oily chemical agents can be observed on the ground, vegetation (grass, leaves, etc.), clothing, and other surfaces.

Droplets of mustard gas and lewisite appear dark and glisten in the sunlight.

Their presence can also be detected on the ground in areas affected by chemical bombs.

Above such affected areas, the scent of chemical agents can be detected up to 300–800 meters away, carried by the wind.

Major N. Bondarenko.

Motorist Savchenko

Junior Sergeant Savchenko has been serving in the N-Sky Aviation unit for only a year. Yet, in this short time, he has proven himself as one of the best.

He dedicates all his strength and knowledge to his work.

— Every time an engine roars on the airfield, I instinctively think that a part of my labor is in that sound.

This is my plane—it must go into battle, strike the fascists, and return safely, — Savchenko says.

Thus, young aviation mechanics and bombardiers grow and develop.
