(National Socialist Agricultural Post, Berlin, May 9, 1941, Issue 19/20)

Failed Assassination Attempt

Dr. Clement Churchill had sought from the beginning of the war to turn the Balkans into a theater of war against Germany. He hoped to mobilize around 100 divisions from the Balkan nations against Germany and thus bind significant German forces.

Furthermore, Churchill aimed to destroy the supply routes that this region provided to the Reich. However, by spring 1941, these plans had failed. Germany’s policy in the Balkans, based on firm and natural principles, proved stronger than British intrigues.

Renewed Commitment

May 10 marks one year since the Supreme Command of the Wehrmacht announced the offensive into Belgian and Dutch territories. This operation was necessary to protect the Ruhr industrial region from potential attack.

On that day, British radio declared:
"This attack will be Germany’s doom!"

But that doom fell upon Britain’s own allies, leading to the downfall of the smaller nations that London had used for its own interests.
