The entire country received with great joy the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR awarding the title of Hero of Socialist Labor to a number of outstanding workers.
The "Hammer and Sickle" Gold Medal and the Order of Lenin were awarded to prominent figures in industry, agriculture, and science. Among the awardees are M.I. Makarov, V.E. Vasiliev, P.N. Volkov, P.A. Kuznetsov, and others.
Through their labor, they have made an immense contribution to the development of the national economy and the strengthening of the country's defense capabilities.

Operational Report for October 1
On the Moscow Front, Soviet troops continued their offensive, liberating more than 30 settlements.
On the Leningrad Front, Red Army units advanced 3-5 kilometers, breaking through enemy resistance. In the Mga and Sinyavino areas, our forces engaged in heavy fighting, repelling German counterattacks.
On the Southern Front, fierce battles continued. Soviet troops attacked enemy positions near Zaporizhzhia, driving the Germans out of several fortified points.
The Red Army Air Force actively supported the offensive, striking enemy fortifications and troop concentrations. During the day, Soviet pilots destroyed 79 German aircraft, losing 19 planes in the process.
The 1st Ukrainian Front broke through to an important railway hub, creating a threat of encirclement for German forces.
The enemy is suffering heavy losses in manpower and equipment. In the Dnipro region, German troops are in retreat, with Soviet units successfully crossing the river at multiple points.
Battles continue along the entire front.
