Model 1935 Red Army cap star, 34 mm in diameter, featuring an applied hammer and sickle. It was most likely a battlefield trophy taken by a German soldier. One point of the star is broken, presumably when it was removed from a cap. The corrosion marks most likely developed after the cap had been lost by its wearer and remained exposed to the elements for an extended period. This example was acquired at a flea market in Germany.
