RIA. Protective Goggles for the Chemical Committee GAU Moist Mask
Original protective goggles of the Russian Imperial Army (RIA), designed for use with the moist mask developed by the Chemical Committee of the Main Artillery Directorate (GAU). They were also used with early models of the gas mask from the Mining Institute.
The goggles are made of standard pea-pattern cloth used by the Russian army, glued onto rubberized calico. The calico bears a stamp: “Kr. Kr.” (Red Cross) of the Kuban Region, Committee for the Production of Goggles, Yekaterinodar (modern-day Krasnodar). Part of the stamp is covered by the eyepiece frame.
The cloth has significant damage due to insect activity. However, the glass lenses remain intact. The metal frame is in excellent condition, retaining its original factory paint.
