Description

A World War II period dress dagger manufactured by WKC of Solingen for the Royal Yugoslavian Police. The blade is magnetic steel with a polished finish, not nickel-plated, with semi-sharp edges and a very sharp point, free of dents or damage. Both sides are etched with ornate scroll patterns: the obverse displays the Royal Yugoslavian coat of arms, while the reverse bears the Belgrade distributor’s inscription in Serbian script “СВЕТОЗАР С. СТАМЕНКОВИЋ БЕОГРАД” (Svetozar S. Stamenković, Belgrade). The ricasso is marked with the WKC knight’s head logo.

The grip is made of celluloid with longitudinal grooves, wrapped in silver and twisted copper wire. The celluloid shows age-related cracking in the middle. The brass crossguard has disc-shaped ends and a central insignia, while the pommel features a Turk’s head knot and leaf detailing.

The scabbard is brass with rich relief ornamentation, featuring the Royal Yugoslavian coat of arms affixed between the suspension bands. Each band bears a rope motif and holds a suspension ring, while the chape is rounded and the throat secured with screws. The set comes complete with its original black leather hanger with brass fittings. Overall length of the dagger is 375 mm, with a blade length of about 262 mm. Very good condition, with even patina, no dents, and a well-preserved hanger.
