History

Crimea Shield- Krimschild - 3rd Reich combat decoration for military personnel who fought against  Red Army under the command of Generalfeldmarschall Erich von Manstein and captured the Crimea (Krim) region between 21 September 1941- 4 July 1942. Instituted on 25 July 1942 year. Made in gilded zinc or steel and placed over a piece of old recycled uniforms wool, named in German Einheitswolle.  Worn on left sleeve, above the elbow. It was the most common shield than others  like Demjansk, Cholm, Kuban  with more than 200000  being awarded. The Crimea Shield has been awarded to all soldiers of Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe,  Kriegsmarine and other units participated in the campaign. The following conditions needed to be met :  Service in the Krim area for at least 90 days or  to be wounded during this campaign.
