Wehrmacht Heer tunic, M 36, Oberfeldwebel in the pioneer unit. Battlefield re-faced piece! The tunic is in a salty condition and most likely went with its owner from the beginning to the end of the war. It is interesting to note that the owner did not replace the jacket during the entire war, although this was required of all soldiers due to the wear and tear of the uniform in combat conditions. The fact that the owner paid to have the jacket refaced and did not get a new one for free. Most likely, a soldier's superstitions say that if he replaces his old jacket with a new one, he might not return home. Seems the "invisible armour" saved his life, and he returned home undamaged. We found that fact very interesting. The jacket itself has a modified collar in the form of a half-stand, as a tribute to the military officers like fashion of that time. Quite a large size, 50 European.
