ID badge of a soldier of the Division-Füsilier-Bataillon Friedrich Ludwig Jahn. The division was created in April 1945 from special forces units of the state labor service (RAD-Division z.b.V. 2), military personnel under 18 years of age who underwent compulsory pre-conscription service in the RAD. Orders for the main formation were issued on April 4 and 7, 1945. By order of April 9, 1945, the division was renamed the Friedrich Ludwig Jahn infantry division. The grenadier regiments were given the names Grenader Regiment Friedrich Ludwig Jan 1 - 3. The collection of all personnel of the division was scheduled for April 10, and combat readiness for April 15. The division headquarters arrived in Jüterbog on April 3 and 4, 1945, and was finally completed on April 9. In addition to RAD leaders, who occupied about 70% of the positions, the rest 30% were disabled or heavily wounded officers with military experience from various army schools who were on duty as instructors. There were approximately 7,000 RAD men available. The division was stationed south of Berlin as part of Army Group Spree (Army Group Reymann).
