I am a citizen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, joining the ranks of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army, I take an oath and solemnly swear to be an honest, brave, disciplined, vigilant fighter, strictly keep military and state secrets, implicitly comply with all military regulations and orders of commanders and superiors. I swear to conscientiously study military science, to protect military and national property worldwide, and to be devoted to my people, in my Soviet Motherland, and to the worker-peasant government to the last breath. - I am always ready, on the orders of the workers' and peasants' government, to defend my Motherland, the Soviet Union and as a soldier of the workers' and peasants' Red Army, I swear to defend it courageously, skilfully, with dignity and honour, not sparing my blood and life itself in order to achieve complete victory over the enemies. If, through malicious intent, I violate this solemn oath of mine, then may I be comprehended by the severe Punishment of Soviet law, the general hatred, and contempt of the Workers
