Description

Set of six tourist badges from the Third Reich period, associated with the Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk (DJH), part of the Hitlerjugend system. Made of pressed cardboard (Hartpappe), each badge depicts one of the well-known German youth hostels popular in the 1930s–1940s. Diameter approx. 40 mm, each issued in different color variations.

Jugendburg Monschau Eifel — blue badge, showing the youth castle in Monschau (Eifel).

Jugendherberge Marienberg — red badge, depicting the Marienberg hostel used by Hitler Youth for camps.

Adolf Hitler Jugendherberge — green badge, mountain hostel named after Hitler.

Jugendherberge H. Heinrichs-Meier — dark red badge, showing a building with the name of a DJH benefactor.

Jugendherberge Marienberg — green badge, variation in color and matrix compared to the second one.

Jugendburg Monschau Eifel — brown badge, same motif as the first but with a different hue and relief.

All badges are made of solid pressed cardboard with finely embossed details. Such souvenir badges were given to members of the DJH and Hitlerjugend during visits to youth hostels.
