SS-VT Standarte Deutschland MG-Gerät 34 ammo box used as a tool/kit box. White strap around it shows the MG team, This box was used for spare parts, cleaning kit and tools. That was done instead of using heavy leather tool box on the waist belt, and also because it has more space for useful things. Ther are few inscriptions on the box: gothic "E" -Ersatzteile (Spare parts) and the personal number which is similar to the owner's Erkennungsmarke ( ID Disc). The personal number of the previous owner is visible underneath of the paint: "2" and also his company name: 3th company ( E) SS "D". Later the box was reissued and has been given to the 1.(E) SS "D" with personal number of the owner: "2167". The box seems has a long battle history through the war in Europe and Russia, until it met the combat at the Kinderheim in Estonia, well known battle of European SS at the Tannenberg line in summer of 1944. Most probably the owner's unit has been attached to the division Wiking. The fate of the owner is unknown, but can be discovered by personal number. Box has been found at the farm's attic in the village 15 km away from Kinderheim. Extreme rare box, probably last chance to have a such one looker in your collection!
