Waffen-SS M40 steel helmet, size 64, battlefiald found. An excavated example with heavy metal loss and deep corrosion throughout the shell. The SS decal on the right side remains clearly visible and well defined despite the overall condition.
Traces of restoration with epoxy are present in several areas, mostly along the rim and sections with major material loss. The liner appears to originate from another excavated helmet of similar type and is not original to this shell.
The manufacturer’s markings are no longer legible due to corrosion, making identification impossible. A heavily worn battlefield relic with a surprisingly well-preserved SS decal.
