Wound Badge, First Pattern 1939, Gold Grade
Extremely rare early issue Wound Badge in gold grade, first model from 1939. Die-struck version, most likely made of zinc. The badge features exceptionally thin and finely executed detailing, clearly visible in the precision of its lines and relief. Due to the delicate construction, the swords where they connect to the helmet were most likely reinforced with soldering during the production process — the repair is factory-done and lies completely beneath the original gilt finish. The gilding is well-preserved, with an even and attractive patina. A distinctive construction feature is the separately applied lower bow of the laurel wreath. This badge is extremely rare — we have never encountered another example with this particular separate bow design. Overall, the piece remains in very good condition, with crisp and well-defined relief.
