Description

The combat worn tunic for Feldwebel from the 377th infantry regiment. The tunic is private tailored from a piece of Soviet canvas for slim body. Size approximately 46. All insignia is originally wartime applied and has traces of frontline use at the Wolchow Front.  No holes or damage. Sew in shoulder straps with the numbers "377". The tunic is in excellent condition. The 377th Infantry Regiment was attached to the 225th Wehrmacht Infantry Division and initially started the war  at  the Western Front, in Belgium, Holland, and France. On December 24, 1941, a regiment within the division was transferred to Riga, where was extreamly cold weather - minus 30 C, but the soldiers were dressed in light uniforms in which they fought in France. Aslo French trophy trucks were completely unreliable and unsuitable for harsh winter conditions. Then the regiment has been sent to the Volkhov front to the village of Vinyagolovo (just google this name in Google pictures to understand what was happening there), in the area of the railway station of Pogostye, where it immediately enters into serious battles against units of the Red Army. On February 16, 1942, after a major counterattack of the Red Army, the regiment suffered serious losses. In May 1942, the regiment returned to the division and was placed on the Oranienbaum area. By May 10, 1942, the regiment suffered losses of 41 percent; by June 15, 1942, the regiment suffered the following losses: 412 killed, 1,013 wounded and 31 missing. Since October 15, 1942, the regiment was renamed in  377 Grenadier Regiment. In 1943, the division was sent to Demyansk, then Ilmen Lake, and then again to the Wolchow Front, in 1944-45, retreating with battles to Narva, then escaping to Latvia and ending the war in the Kurland pocket.
