MASTERS OF THE TORPEDO STRIKE
Torpedo weapons, possessing great destructive power, represent a powerful part of the combat means of the Navy. Our glorious submariners and torpedo boat crews have shown in practice that they skillfully use this formidable weapon against the enemy. They have sunk and damaged a significant number of enemy warships and transports.
The submarines and torpedo boats of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet carried out sudden, bold, and daring combat operations that will go down in the history of naval warfare as examples of courage, bravery, fearlessness, high training, skill, and the ability to use weapons.
The Party’s and the Government’s recognition of the merits of the masters of the torpedo strike, who have been awarded high combat orders and the Order of Lenin, and the title Hero of the Soviet Union, is well-deserved and just.
The glorious submarine Shch-323 under the command of Battalion Commander Comrade Afanasyev, together with Navigator Comrade Bushuev, Senior Lieutenant Commander Bukhanovsky, Artamonov and others, showed examples of heroism and courage.
Comrade Bushuev, carrying out a combat mission, demonstrated fearlessness and heroism. Despite the enemy’s anti-submarine defenses, he boldly and resolutely accomplished the mission and sent the enemy to the bottom.
The sailors, as watch specialists, gave all their strength, their knowledge, and their experience to fulfill combat missions, maintaining the high readiness of every battle post, of every combat unit.
When, for example, a submarine is left alone, at that moment all the thoughts and knowledge of the crew must be directed toward one thing – the destruction of the enemy. At the same time, all moral and physical strength of the men must be fully used in the commander’s tension throughout the entire combat cruise.
Not a single submarine can go into a combat mission without precise and attentive watch duty. This requires full concentration and maximum exertion of all strength.
Every time a combat mission is carried out, the submarine must act precisely, be able to choose the moment of attack, and accurately reach the torpedo strike position.
The heroic actions of our submariners have once again shown that they skillfully use torpedo weapons.
The anxiety of Germany and its accomplices is evident from the numerous reports of their ships being sunk by our submariners.
The bold, sudden, and daring actions of our submariners inspire the sailors of the Baltic Fleet to new feats, to new examples of heroism.
Learn from the combat experience of the masters of the torpedo strike.

Being decorated with the Order of the Red Banner is a great honor and a high obligation. This obliges me even more to the resolute struggle against the German invaders.
I swear to justify this high award with my modest work at the battle station, with my courage and determination in combat. I swear to apply all my strength, all my knowledge, and all my skills to destroy the enemy more quickly.
I swear to justify the high award.
Captain-Lieutenant Grachev.
Let us double our energy for the destruction of the enemy
On April 17 the Komsomol groups of the ship held a meeting dedicated to the subscription to the State War Loan. Political officer Comrade Lavrov, division commander Comrade Afanasyev, party bureau secretary Comrade Minin and others spoke at the meeting.
The meeting noted that on the ship personal initiative and energy of Komsomol members, sailors, and petty officers are still insufficiently used. At every battle station initiative must be developed, striving for increased combat training and readiness of the ship.
Speakers Comrades Lavrov, Afanasyev, and Minin called on everyone so that each sailor and petty officer would master his weapon and handle the equipment to the point of automatism.
I have no doubt that these sacred words of comrades will find reflection in daily work.
F. Galenkov.

PREPARING FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF THE ENEMY AT SEA
STRIVING FOR AUTOMATISM AND INTERCHANGEABILITY
The commander of one ship reported: during training, Komsomol members and sailors demonstrate knowledge of their weapons, but this experience and training have not yet reached automatism. To fully master the weapon, interchangeability is necessary.
Every sailor, every petty officer must know the combat duties of his comrade, so that if necessary, he can replace him.
Therefore, on the ship daily exercises in interchangeability are conducted. Sailors Sokolov, Brun, Lukyan, and Sudarev show examples of automatism, practicing their actions at battle stations.
The ship’s commander noted that this is not the limit, it is necessary to continue striving for even greater training and skillful handling of weapons.
Cadet of the Political School Comrade Sivtsov.
LET US INCREASE THE PACE AND QUALITY OF COMBAT TRAINING
By the beginning of 1942 there was still a sense of serious insufficiency in the training of the ship and its crew.
The meeting resolved: to tighten up all work on combat training.
At the meeting ship’s deputy political officer Comrade Belokopytov spoke. He emphasized the necessity of organization and persistence.
From this began the rise in combat training of the personnel. The meetings became a school of training, of the work of petty officers and sailors. With each week of combat training the responsibility grew.
Combat missions showed that more and more sailors are mastering weapons, becoming excellent commanders.
Every combat minute a sailor must remember his combat duties.
Senior Lieutenant B. Belokopytov.
