Waffen-SS overcoat in the rank of SS-Sturmmann
Field overcoat of the Waffen-SS for enlisted men in the rank of SS-Sturmmann. The piece has survived in a fully battlefield condition with clear traces of wear, wartime patina and atmosphere, untouched by cleaning or restoration. All insignia are period-applied and remain in original state. The coat shows only a small moth hole near the right pocket and a few minor moth traces on the inner side of the cuff.
The size marking is applied in the typical SS manner on the left side of the back. Additionally, the manufacturer’s coded number “458” is present, belonging to a factory contracted to work for the SS. The size corresponds approximately to 50. Its condition gives the impression of having just been removed from a front-line soldier’s shoulders.
A distinctive feature of this model is the characteristic SS vertical dart running from the upper corner of the pocket, which immediately sets it apart from Wehrmacht overcoats. A striking and authentic piece, highly representative in any serious collection.
