War Merit Cross 1939 2 Class with swords. "5" - Hermann Wernstein factory in Jena-Lobstedt. A very rare manufacturer of Second Class War Merit Crosses. The zinc version of the cross is much rarer than the bronze version. Excellent condition only on the left beam there is a slight rash of surface oxidation on the reverse. The bronze on the cross was diffused with zinc, and unfortunately, all Kriegsmetall crosses from this manufacturer look "gray", due to the absorption of bronze by zinc. Marking "5" on the ring is clear visible.
