Product Code: o465/10
Out of stock

Description

One of the most iconic campaign shields of the Eastern Front — the Crimea Shield (Krimschild) awarded for participation in the battles for the Crimean Peninsula during 1941–1942. Made of bronzed iron with a contoured shape, the shield is mounted on cloth backing with a metal support plate. The obverse features a spread-winged eagle clutching a wreath with a swastika, above the inscription "KRIM", and a stylized map of Crimea with the dates 1941–1942 on either side.

Produced by Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen — the only Krimschild known to bear a maker’s mark. The marking is located on the reverse of the metal component but is not visible as it is covered by the cloth, metal backplate, and a paper liner. The shield is in excellent condition, with light signs of wear and stitching, and retains sharp detail and well-preserved bronzing.
