One of the early Waffen-SS steel buckles marked RZM 155/40 SS, produced by Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid. Belongs to the first production batches of steel buckles, originally nickel-plated and later finished with a pressure-applied aluminium coating.
On early examples, the catch was attached using brass solder, making it prone to failure — in this case, the catch is missing.
The buckle is in a strong patina condition, showing clear signs of use and age, without the catch.
