Operational Report for July 29
On the Orel-Kursk sector, our troops continued the offensive, advancing from 5 to 10 kilometers in some areas and liberating more than 50 settlements.
On the Belgorod sector and in Donbass – reconnaissance and search operations.
On the Leningrad Front, the enemy conducted intensified reconnaissance to locate our defensive positions. Local skirmishes occurred in some areas.
On July 29, our forces destroyed up to 1,500 German soldiers and officers in these battles.
Additionally, Soviet aviation conducted 230 combat sorties, destroying and damaging 30 tanks, 75 troop and supply vehicles, 40 artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 5 ammunition depots.
On the Belgorod sector, the Red Army continued its attacks, encountering strong enemy resistance. Soviet artillery conducted massive bombardments of German fortifications, enabling infantry units to advance.
During battles for one settlement, our troops destroyed 18 German tanks, 12 armored vehicles, and up to 600 enemy soldiers and officers.
In Donbass, intense localized battles took place. The enemy attempted counterattacks but was repelled. Soviet units captured several strategically important heights.
On the Orel-Kursk sector, Red Army infantry, supported by tank formations, continued to expand the offensive breakthrough, repelling enemy counterattacks and solidifying gains.
In air battles, Soviet pilots shot down 25 enemy aircraft, losing 7 of their own.
