Mauser Modell 98/05 Bayonet, Fichtel & Sachs, 1918
Mauser Modell 98/05 bayonet manufactured in 1918 by Fichtel & Sachs of Schweinfurt. The spine of the blade bears a military acceptance mark in the form of a crown over the Latin letter L, along with the 1918 date. An additional secondary marking is present, most likely related to a military depot reinspection, consisting of a crown and a Gothic letter H. An atypical serial number 418 is stamped on the upper barrel lug area near the spine. The grip shows minor damage. All components of the bayonet are stamped, including the grip screws. The blade is in excellent condition, with only a few minor corrosion pits at the very tip. Light age-related oxidation is present, mainly on the scabbard.
