On October 25, they stormed and captured the regional capital Dnipro (Dnepropetrovsk) and the city of Kamianske (Dneprodzerzhinsk) — key industrial centers and German defensive strongholds on the Dnieper’s western bank.

The troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, after a swift assault, captured the regional capital Dnipro and the city of Kamianske. In retreat, the Germans blew up bridges and set fire to supply depots. They suffered heavy losses and withdrew across the Dnieper.
Fierce fighting continued on all fronts.
Near Nevel, Soviet forces repelled a major counterattack. 17 German tanks were destroyed.
Near Kremenchuk and Nikopol, Soviet troops advanced, capturing 41 populated settlements.
