WAR LOAN
For almost ten months the Soviet people have been waging a relentless Patriotic War against the fascist invaders who attacked our country. On the fronts of the war the fate of the socialist state, the fate of the Soviet people, the fate of all humanity is now being decided. The warriors of the Red Army and the Red Fleet, Soviet partisans, detachments of the People’s Militia courageously and steadfastly defend their native land. The war has naturally caused great expenses. To maintain the army, to arm it with the newest technology, it is necessary to mobilize enormous resources. The state has found the correct way out — it has resorted to a loan, which met a fervent response among the population of the Soviet Union. At rallies, meetings, and assemblies, working people express their readiness to invest their money in the loan. At factories and plants, in collective farms and state farms, in institutions and schools, subscription is in full swing. The people understand that their money goes to the sacred cause — the defeat of the enemy, the destruction of the fascist army and its equipment. The success of the subscription to the loan is a sign of the moral and political unity of the front and rear. Our people see that money is needed for military expenses and that victory demands all efforts, all sacrifices from them. The people do not spare a single kopek for the army.

The subscription in the city of Malaya Vishera (Leningrad region) provided a vivid example of patriotism. Here 1285 houses were destroyed and burned by the fascists. But the workers of Malaya Vishera, despite the difficulties connected with restoring the ruined city, subscribed to the loan for the amount of 2,250,000 rubles. Yet for the restoration of destroyed property about 30 million rubles will be needed. This means that on average each resident of the city contributed about 600 rubles to the loan. In the Molotov region, at a rally of the working people, an appeal was adopted — every worker and employee should subscribe to the loan in the amount of one month’s salary, and collective farmers should contribute their entire income for one or two days. The workers unanimously accepted this call.

Thus, both in Leningrad and in all the cities and villages of the country, the subscription to the loan is being carried out in a united and mass fashion. It is the duty of every citizen to subscribe to the loan. Everyone understands that the fate of our state, the fate of each of us, depends on it.

Let us hasten victory over the enemy
I subscribed to the War Loan for 250 rubles, my monthly allowance. Following the example of the commander, the Red Navy sailors did the same. Each of them subscribed to the loan in the amount of their monthly allowance. Money is needed for tanks, airplanes, guns, ammunition. One does not grudge money that goes to victory over the enemy. By subscribing to the loan — we hasten victory!
Red Navy sailor M. LUKIN

We salute the issue of the War Loan
With a feeling of great satisfaction we welcomed the news of the issue of the War Loan of 1942. This loan is a blow against the hated enemy. The funds from the loan will go for new tanks, airplanes, guns, ammunition. Subscribing to the loan is a new demonstration of the unbreakable unity of front and rear. We, the fighters and commanders of the Red Fleet, warmly salute the issue of the War Loan. Subscription to the loan will hasten the defeat of the enemy and bring our victory closer.

The War Loan means new tanks, airplanes, guns, ammunition — a new blow against the enemy
As soon as the news was heard about the issue of the new War Loan, we, the commanders and political workers, unanimously decided to subscribe to the loan. We readily invest our savings in the fund of the War Loan. Let our money serve the cause of the speedy defeat of the German-fascist invaders.
Company Political Officer A. BUSHKOV

The subscription went smoothly
The rally in unit N lasted only 15 minutes. The soldiers watched the scene silently. When the commander announced the conditions of the subscription to the War Loan, dozens of hands went up. One after another, commanders and fighters signed the subscription sheets. The subscription went smoothly and quickly. Each contributed a monthly allowance, and some even more. In the end the total amount of the subscription was 121.5 percent of the monthly allowance of the entire unit.

Two or three salaries as a loan to the state
The subscription to the War Loan in the 3rd company went in a united and organized way. The soldiers and commanders of the unit unanimously decided: each will subscribe to the loan in the amount of two to three salaries. After a short rally, the Red Navy sailors and commanders contributed their savings to the loan. The collective of the company subscribed for the sum of 32,000 rubles.

I subscribe to the loan with joy
There is no greater happiness than to realize the importance of your participation in the common cause of defeating the fascists. I rejoice in my signature on the loan subscription as I rejoice in combat successes. I subscribed to the loan in the amount of two months’ allowance and rejoice that my money will go for the construction of tanks, airplanes, and guns.
Senior Lieutenant, Order-bearer YU. GRUBISHIN

Two hundred percent
At a rally dedicated to the issue of the War Loan of 1942, comrade Matyashevich spoke. He said: “It should have been reported in the most detailed way about this greatest historic event.” After the report, Commander Chesnokov said: “This issue of the loan should be regarded as another blow against the enemy. We must all subscribe without exception. I personally will subscribe for 200 percent of my monthly allowance.”

They contribute in cash
On the ship, where the party organization secretary comrade Gromov raised the question of the loan, the subscription went smoothly. As soon as the announcement of the issue of the War Loan was read, the Red Navy sailors and commanders immediately contributed money in cash. Each gave 2–3 salaries. In total the subscription amounted to 111 percent of the ship’s monthly allowance.

Communist Nelyubin leads the fire
In the battles near Leningrad, comrade Nelyubin and the soldiers of his unit met the fascists with heavy fire. Many fascist corpses remained on the battlefield. Nelyubin personally knocked out two enemy tanks, destroyed a machine-gun nest, and threw grenades into the enemy trench. For his displayed courage he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

Eliminate shortcomings in combat training
When setting the introductory task, it was outlined for the first session. But the analysis showed that in the training there are shortcomings. Some did not master the subject fully, and therefore it will be necessary to return. Tasks of combat training must be carried out strictly and precisely. The personnel are working hard to catch up, to eliminate shortcomings.

Agitators attend lectures
The party organization of the ship, where the secretary is comrade Rakhnov, together with the political department of the front, conducts agitation work. The fighters attend lectures where they discuss the tasks of the War Loan, the importance of supporting the front, and the role of each fighter in the struggle against the fascists.

Rarity
This issue of the newspaper Dozor is an extremely rare copy, preserved in a single exemplar. After the war it was kept in the museum of the Twice Red Banner Baltic Fleet in Tallinn and survived only thanks to the bound archive subscription, from which it was taken.
