Issue No. 73 — September 2, 1942

Submariners of the Red Banner Baltic!
The Motherland is proud of your feats. Fighting under difficult conditions, you have inflicted enormous damage on the Germans. Honor and glory to you! Strike the enemy even harder, ruthlessly destroy his ships!

Submariners of the Red Banner Baltic
The enemy, retreating on the front and in the rear, persistently seeks to secure his maritime communications.
The peculiarities of transporting troops and cargo by sea demand from the German command considerable efforts in the organization and protection of transport convoys. Aware of the danger threatening them at sea, the Germans are forced to deploy a significant number of warships and aircraft to guard transports.
But despite all these measures, the fascists cannot guarantee the safety of their communications. Soviet submariners strike the enemy boldly, skillfully, inflicting crushing blows. The chronicles of the war note brilliant victories of the Baltic submarine fleet, repeatedly foiling German transport plans. Dozens of sunk transports, loaded with troops, military equipment, and cargo, have been destroyed by the heroic Soviet submariners.

Every campaign is a feat
Every campaign of our submariners is a feat of courage and skill. Acting with daring and resourcefulness, overcoming difficulties and dangers, our commanders and crews of submarines make powerful strikes against the enemy. They never allow German transports to operate freely in the Baltic Sea. Each sortie brings new sinkings of enemy ships, each strike undermines the enemy’s strength, accelerates his defeat.
The Baltic submarine sailors are the faithful heirs of glorious Russian naval traditions. Their fearless and selfless struggle brings them close to the immortal heroes of the Russian fleet.

Daring
Trial patrols in dangerous areas, searching for targets, waiting for them – and suddenly torpedoes rushing at the target, a violent explosion, enemy ships sinking into the depths of the sea. Such is the daily, tense, heroic work of Soviet submariners.
The daring of Soviet submarine commanders is limitless. Calm and self-confidence, persistence and boldness accompany them in battles with the enemy. They know their work is necessary, their strike will bring great benefit.
Baltic submariners strike powerfully and swiftly. Courage and determination characterize the actions of Red Navy heroes.

Brave submariners join the Party
The commander of a detachment of guardsmen, Lieutenant Lisetsky, and the political officer of the 3rd Company, Junior Political Officer Dubrovsky, wrote statements about joining the Party on the eve of combat missions. In their letters, they vowed to even more steadfastly destroy the German invaders.

With all your fury destroy the Germans!
Avenge, sailor!

Word about helmsman Zimenko
Helmsman of a submarine combat vehicle, Comrade Zimenko courageously performs his duty. The Communist Organization emphasizes his calmness and confidence in battle.

Brilliant victory of the Northern sailors
Northern Fleet submariners again struck the enemy. They sank transports and enemy warships, inflicted losses and dealt powerful blows. The fame of the Northern Fleet grows with every day, the courage and skill of Soviet sailors amaze the enemy.

They avenge!
The heroic Leningrad submarine squadron in 1942 carried out a number of daring operations. The enemy’s transports were sunk, warships destroyed. Enemy sailors fear Soviet submariners, call them “sea devils.”
Persistent, fearless, merciless – such are our submariners.

We increase our combat score
With streams of enemy blood we repay the fascist beasts. In August alone, Red Banner Baltic submariners sank four German transports. This means fewer troops and cargo will reach the front, fewer shells will be fired at our soldiers. Each new sinking of an enemy ship shortens the road to victory.

Extremely rare issue
This issue of Dozor is extremely rare. It was preserved in the museum of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet after the war, kept in a single bound volume from the subscription, and survived in only one known copy.
